Many people go straight to the chemist and buy antibiotics without seeing a doctor. How big a problem is self medication?

True. Cheaper consultations would reduce self medication a lot.

Part of the problem is that seeing a doctor is expensive and slow. People choose the quick option.

A big problem. Antibiotic resistance is real, and people stop treatment as soon as they feel better.
